The measure of love is always its willingness to give. Love is not what is said but what is done. God is giver. Giving is a Characteristic of Him. He gives life “He gives all to life ( Acts 17:25).He gives daily providence “He gave us rain from heaven and fruitful seasons filling our hearts with food and gladness”(Acts 14:17).He is source of good gifts “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above”(James 1:17).
Beyond all measure there is a unspeakable gift of God “unto us a son is given”(Isaiah 9:6) the gifts of gift and all gifts in one –Jesus Christ. If we would measure the love of God we must measure it by Calvary “God so loved the world” How can we comprehend that particle ‘so’? There is an answer in the above verse –that much of being lifted up on the cross of Calvary.
Love ever gives forgives out lives
And ever stands with open hands
And while it lives gives
For while it gives it lives
And this is love’s prerogative
To give-and give –and give
God loves a Cheerful giver. 2 Cor 9:7. Can a man be a loser by doing that which is God is pleased?.What is given to God is far from being lost. As the precious seed that is cast onto the ground is not lost, for it will spring up and bear fruit .The sower shall receive it again with increase.
While earth remains seed time and harvest shall not cease. Gen 8: 22
